Software Designer

While I have a degree in Management Information Systems, that has little to do with my computer programming skills. They came about more from need than anything else. I paid for part of college by writing educational software for the Apple //e, and my first consulting business was centered around writing custom software for my clients.

In fact, there are a few of my clients from the late 80's that are still using the programs I created for them nearly 20 years ago.

The entire time I was at Fraternity Management Group doing fund raising I was in charge of writing and constantly improving our database software. I also ended up designing the company's first website as well as the first templates that were used for our clients' sites.

My efforts lately include , a product I created and am currently marketing to dive shops and clubs that want to manage and publish their trip and class schedules with almost no effort. I have also created a Vocabulary Workshop as part of the site for the Hogan School of Real Estate, where I presently teach. I did the site consturction and mechanics with an in house designer. The vocabulary tool has proven to be very effective for our students, so marketing the program to other schools is definitely on the agenda. There are a number of other programs I have done for various businesses, charities, and member organizations that cover a lot of ground.

I use MySQL for a database, PHP for middleware, and HTML for the user interface. This is a very powerful, and very popular combination.

Take a look at thoughts on web design.
